Вы решили покататься на лодке. Может быть один, с семьей или с друзьями. На что же следует обратить внимание, и к чему быть готовым? Основные критерии проверки: 1. В лодке не должно быть течи и большого количества воды на ее дне. Отправляться в плавание в дырявой лодке опасно для жизни. 2. Лодка не должна иметь пробоин, в том числе и выше уровня воды. 3. В лодке обязательно должен быть спасательный круг или конец «Александрова», а также спасательные жилеты. 4. В лодке должен быть черпак для удаления воды. Появление или усиление ветра и волнения настораживает профессионального судоводителя любого судна, будь оно маленькое или большое. Тем более осторожным должен быть любитель. На моторной лодке длиной 4—5 м ходить на волне выше 0,3 м со скоростью более 25 км/ч опасно, а удары о волны вызывают тряску, утомляют людей. Плавание в шторм даже для большого судна сложно, а для любительского судна может быть только вынужденным, когда по оплошности или из-за ошибки судоводитель-любитель не смог дойти до укрытия или не в состоянии войти в него. На катере, попавшем в сильный шторм, прекращается отдых. Начинается борьба со стихией за сохранение жизни людей и судна. Судоводитель, который выводит своё судно из речного фарватера в водохранилище, должен узнать прогноз погоды, прежде чем выйти в плавание. Обычно при усиливающемся ветре плавание любительских маломерных судов даже около берега надо прекращать. Такой ветер срывает гребни увеличивающихся волн и несет над водой на высоте маломерных судов сплошную завесу водных брызг. Бессмысленность, чрезмерная «удаль», надежда на «авось» или мнение, что «водохранилище — это не море», «ничего, пройдем», приносят много бед.
